A man wanted on a warrant escaped police after a brief foot pursuit, Livermore Police Officer Traci Rebiejo said.
At around 2 p.m. Wednesday an officer spotted James Newmanick walking along Locust Street in north Livermore.
Newmanick, who is wanted on a court-ordered bench warrant, took off running once he saw the officer, Rebiejo said.
He then fled into a nearby daycare center around the Elm and North L streets area, and police surrounded the center.
Officers searched back yards and the center and were unable to locate Newmanick, Rebiejo said.
Newmanick is described as a white male with a shaved head, mustache and goatee. He was last seen wearing a grey tank top and camouflage pants.
